If approved, the new fees would go into effect Nov. 1.

Public record requests for law enforcement video, such as body-worn camera footage, could be subject to a fee of $46 per video-hour reviewed, per copy.

The fee, according to the proposal, would apply to anyone submitting a public records request, except relevant victims, their attorneys or an immediate family member if the victim is killed or incapacitated.

Gilbert charges a flat fee of $25 per copy for body-worn camera public requests.

“The new fee structure is necessary to help recover the staffing and equipment costs associated with reviewing, redacting (as necessary) and copying video recordings,” the release stated.

If approved, the new fee would go into effect Oct. 30.
