SUN CITY WEST - Geraldine Joyce Black, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, in Sun City West. "Gerry" was born in 1932 in Bridgeport, Mich., to Marie and Harvey Bow. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, Mich. Gerry worked for several years at Michigan National Bank where she met, and married, her loving husband, of 58 years, Willard J. Black. She later worked at Bronner's Christmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth, Mich., and also owned and managed Jill's Hallmark in Saginaw, Mich. Later, she volunteered her time to many non-profit organizations, including Meals On Wheels, the Sun City West visitor's center, and on many different church committees. Gerry enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was a friend to all. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Bow; brother-in-law, Jerry Black; and sister-in-law, Minnie Black. Gerry is survived by her husband, Will; son, Mark (wife Nancy); son, David (wife Barbara); daughter, Jill (husband Clark); eight grandchildren, Emily (husband Jason Kalmbach), Elisa, Ben (wife Kerri and great grandson Owen), David, Reed (fiancee Alyssa Schoenow), Andrew, Noah and Mia. A memorial service was held at Shepard of the Hills United Methodist Church in Sun City West, Ariz., on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Arizona who's support and kindness we so greatly appreciated during our wife/mother's final months.
