Wilson, Gerald P. “Jerry,” 84, of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Benton City, WA, passed away June 13, 2026 following a brief illness. Jerry was born in St Paul, MN, the second of six children of Walter and Ann Wilson. Jerry retired as a Major in the US Air Force in 1981and went on to have a successful career as an engineer with Kaiser Engineers Hanford in Richland, WA.
While living in Benton City, Jerry became known as the Sourdough King for his love of making sourdough and sharing it with others. Family reunions in MN always included an Uncle Jerry sourdough pancake brunch. In retirement, Jerry and Jo enjoyed the RV lifestyle for many years, traveling to Bluegrass & Old Time Music Festivals, where Jerry would participate in jam sessions playing one of his many banjos, and spending summers crabbing on the Washington coast. After settling in Sun City, Jerry and Jo became active in Dance for Fitness and volunteering for the Seattle Mariners during spring training.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Josephine Wilson, his three children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister also survive him. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
