GeraldHineline, 84Sun City resident Gerald "Jerry" Hineline died May 15, 2008.Mr. Hineline was born in 1923 in Sharon, Pa., and was raised in Port Clinton, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, then in the U.S. Army until his retirement in 1963. He opted for the Army so his family could be with him during his many different assignments overseas. He served 11 of his Army years in the finance corps in Taiwan, Syria, Jordan and Greece.After retirement from the military, he went into the credit union field, working for the California Credit Union League in the education department then as Western Union Credit Union treasurer manager in San Francisco.He moved to Sun City in 1991 with his wife, Jo, and spent many happy days volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Catholic Outreach Center. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church and was a fourth-degree Knights of Columbus. His greatest joy was serving others.He is survived by his wife; two stepchildren, Don O'Brien and Cheryl Nagro; a sister, Michelle Harp; eight grandchildren; and various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Hineline, and a daughter, Kathleen Hineline.Internment was at Holy Cross Cemetery.
