George Steve Karras

SUN CITY WEST - George Steve Karras, of Sun City West, loving husband, father, and grandfather went to be with the Lord on Sept. 6, 2010. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 16, 1931, to Steve and Sophia Karras. He and his wife Shirley, childhood sweethearts, were married for 57 years. In 1991, George retired from Bostwick-Braun after 25 plus years of service. He was an avid life long baseball and softball player. He was active with the Sun City West Softball Club and in 2008 was elected to the league's Hall of Fame. His sudden absence will leave a huge void in the lives of his family and friends. George is survived by his wife, Shirley; sister, Martha Karras-Coughlin; son, Glenn Karras (his wife Marianne); daughter, Samantha Christie (her husband Joe); and son, Matthew Karras (his wife Susan); grandchildren, Matthew and Sara Christie, Austin, Aaron, and Andrew Karras, and Shannon Cadiwel. George also had three great-grandsons. Services for the family, followed by inurnment, will be held in Cleveland, Ohio. A Memorial Service will be held in Sun City West at a later time.
