George S. Powell

George S. Powell was born October 27, 1928 in Melrose, MA. He passed quietly and peacefully with his family on March 29, 2017 at age 88. He was a patriot, loving father and husband. He served in the Army from 1946-1948 and continued his education graduating with a degree at Burdett College, Northeastern Univ., and Univ. of Maryland.His accomplishments include 30 years at the CIA (Senior Intelligence Service), Medal of Merit from CIA Director William Casey, served on the Board of Selectmen in York Maine (3 years), served as President of the Board of Directors Sun City West Foundation in AZ (8years).George was diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimer's disease and was cared for at home by his wife Julie and son Michael since late 2014.He is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons and four grandchildren.
