George H. Cooper

George H. Cooper, 97, (formerly of Dixon, IL) died Saturday, December 16, 2017 at his home in Sun City West, AZ.George was born July 22, 1920 in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of Clifford W. and Bessie M. (Holdredge) Cooper. After serving in the Navy during World War II, George was employed by Commonwealth Edison (Exelon) for 38 years at Station 16 (Dixon) and the Byron Nuclear Generating Station, when he retired in 1984.In 1993 he and his wife of 75 years (Dorothy Inness Cooper) moved to Sun City West.He is survived by his wife; son, Craig and his wife Linda (Glendale, AZ); daughter, Carol (Sun City West, AZ); four grandchildren: Christopher (Round Rock, TX), Nathan and Patrick (Glendale, AZ), and Emily (Gilbert, AZ); and five great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and two older brothers, Harold E. Cooper (Waukegan) and Robert C. Cooper (Prairie Village, KS).A private family ceremony will be conducted at the Advent Episcopal Church, Sun City West.
