Surprise general plan still up for review

Residents can comb through draft through Aug. 30

Residents are encouraged to review the Surprise General Plan 2040 Draft by Aug. 30 to ensure the document reflects the community’s sentiments before going to the next step in the state law-mandated update.

The draft plan is designed to outline the community’s vision on such things as “balanced housing and economic opportunity to addressing water resource needs, transportation planning opportunities, and establishing a Desert Rural Residential overlay,” as noted on the city of Surprise website.

The required update of the city’s General Plan 2035 serves as a blueprint for decisions on land development, public safety, parks and recreation, economic development, environmental and social interests.
