An unexpected partnership between Grand Canyon University and the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. has turned into a pipeline for talent for the semiconductor industry.
That partnership is an 11-week program, called the Manufacturing Specialist Intensive pathway, designed to create a technician pipeline for the company as an entry-level semiconductor technician.
Dewey Thomas, executive director for Semiconductor Workforce Development and Industry Partnerships at Grand Canyon, began developing a program with TSMC. It took Thomas 15 months to put the program together, but the actual development of the program began back in December 2024.
