Gateway Academy presents Stand Up For Autism at CB Live

Celebrate Autism Awareness Month and join Gateway Academy, the Valley’s school serving students with autism and 2E students for a night of live comedy.

On Thursday, April 20, Gateway Academy will host Stand Up For Autism starting at 6 p.m. at CB Live at Desert Ridge Marketplace.

Comedians Jann Karam and Brian Kiley will co-headline the event, along with other special guests. There will also be a silent auction and raffle with all proceeds going to the nonprofit academy, according to a press release.

Gateway Academy presents Stand Up For Autism at CB Live

Celebrate Autism Awareness Month and join Gateway Academy, the Valley’s school serving students with autism and 2E students for a night of live comedy.

On Thursday, April 20, Gateway Academy will host Stand Up For Autism starting at 6 p.m. at CB Live at Desert Ridge Marketplace.

Comedians Jann Karam and Brian Kiley will co-headline the event, along with other special guests. There will also be a silent auction and raffle with all proceeds going to the nonprofit academy, according to a press release.

“We are thrilled to be raising funds for our STEAM program and celebrating our exceptional students during Autism Awareness Month with a night of comedy and entertainment,” CEO and Executive Director O. Robin Sweet said in the release. “This is one of Gateway Academy’s biggest fundraisers of the year, so we hope everyone will come out and help support our amazing students.”

Karam is an Arizona native and attended Arizona State University. She is a stand-up comedian, actor, writer and artist. Karam has made appearances on NBC’s Tonight Show and the Late Show with David Letterman. She was also on HBO’s Young Comedians Special, Seinfeld and many more. She headlines across the country as a stand-up comedian and regularly tours with SNL alumnus Dana Carvey.

Kiley is a comedian and Emmy Award-winning writer. He is a staff writer and the head monologue writer for Conan O’Brien. Kiley has made several appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. He performs regularly at clubs in Los Angeles, Calif.

Tru Steinburg, son of comedian Andy Steinburg, will be the Emcee for the evening. Steinburg is a graduate of Gateway Academy and is currently attending Scottsdale Community College’s culinary arts program. Steinburg and his father have hosted the Stand Up For Autism event in the past.
