In the face of record gas prices, some Phoenix thieves decided to skip the pump and instead repeatedly steal gas from a Phoenix animal shelter.
HALO Animal Rescue, at 32nd Street and Bell Road but which serves the entire region, had gas stolen from its vans on five occasions spanning about two and a half weeks in early April.
These thefts coincide with a handful of news reports of other gas thefts in the Valley and state this spring; however, multiple Valley police agencies stated they haven’t seen gas thefts become a widespread issue.
