Gas prices in the Valley drop after record-breaking September high

Following the highest average price per gallon in September in history, gas prices dropped 7 cents a gallon this past week, according to AAA Arizona.

The current average price for gas is $4.80 a gallon, which is still 99 cents higher than a year ago at this time and 16 cents higher than a month ago.

“While crude oil prices have dipped back into the $90 per barrel range pulling the national average down, overall gas prices remain the highest they’ve ever been for this time of the year,” said David Caltabiano, spokesperson for AAA Mountain West Group in a release on Thursday.
