Democrat Ruben Gallego has increased his lead over Kari Lake in the race to claim the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Kyrsten Sinema — again.
In Sunday evening statistics released by the Arizona Secretary of State and Maricopa County, Gallego’s lead over Lake was bumped up slightly to about 66,00 votes as Maricopa and other Arizona counties hit the home stretch of counting.
The Associated Press has called other races that involve fewer votes and has called Arizona for Donald Trump in the race for president. But with the Secretary of State’s Office estimating there are still about 272,000 ballots to count statewide, the AP has decided against calling the Senate race.
