Future vote in the hands of Sun City West residents

Bill amendment for planned communities

An upcoming Sun City West vote could determine how much control the community has on public roads, including parking on streets.

Both Maricopa County regulations and the covenants, conditions and restrictions of the Recreation Centers of Sun City West currently oversee this area.

Arizona House Bill 2298, which was signed into law during the last legislative session, states that no later than June 30, 2025, a planned community must call a meeting of the membership to decide whether to continue to regulate public roads. Included in the legislation are planned communities and individual homeowner associations, such as those that govern the Sun Cities.
