SUMMER

Fully staffed with lifeguards, Glendale city pools to open in June

Staffing situation much different than previous couple COVID years

What a difference a year makes.

One year ago this spring, continued COVID-19 fallout was contributing to a massive shortage of staff lifeguards in the city. So much so that Glendale’s public pools were in danger of limited operating hours, or even not opening at all.

Maricopa County requires a minimum of around 32 to 35 lifeguards on deck in order to open both Foothills Recreation and Aquatic Center, 5600 W. Union Hills Drive, and the Rose Lane Aquatics Center, 5003 W. Marlette Ave.
