A 52-year-old man has been extradited to the United States from Mexico to face Peoria police charges, including sexual conduct with a minor, federal authorities said.
Gilberto Buitimea Bacasegua, 52, was extradited May 26 after his arrest in Sinaloa, Mexico.
Bacasegua was wanted by the Peoria Police Department for sexual conduct with a minor, sexual abuse and kidnapping, according to the US Marshals Service.
According to officials, in March 2016, Bacasegua was charged with two counts of sexual conduct with a minor, two counts of sexual abuse and one count of kidnapping. All charges are considered dangerous crimes against children.
A warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest.
Acting U.S. Marshall Van Bayless said locating and returning Bacasegua back to Arizona “to face multiple egregious felony charges, directly reflects the outstanding investigatory and collaborative efforts made by the Peoria Police Department, Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and the United States Marshal Service.”
The Peoria Police Department and Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for International Extraditions requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service WANTED Violent Offenders Task Force in finding and arresting Bacasegua.
Bacasegua was brought back to the United States on May 26 without incident, officials said.
