The Surprise City Council pushed the future Fry’s grocery center in the city’s northern area one step closer to fruition with approval last week of a new development plat.
The council unanimously approved on June 1 allowing owners Smiths Food & Drug Centers Inc. and Barclay Holdings C LLC to shrink the number of parcels on the 19 acre site. The move primarily was to allow shifting of buildings on the site for the future Fry’s at Asante store and gas station, said Surprise planner Sergio Angulo.
“With the new design the Fry’s grocery center brought in, they are readjusting some of those lots in order to fit the fuel station and the grocery shop on the same lot. They had to combine a couple of the existing lot,” he said.
