Wednesday nights in August and September will offer dynamic entertainment at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts, according to a news release.

The city of Peoria will host free, live music performances every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. from Aug. 2 through Sept. 27.

The August Acoustics series will include intimate performances of acoustic tunes played by a talented lineup of local Arizona folk and bluegrass artists, the release states. The September Mix series will include a variety of entertainment from Latin fusion and soul music to indie rock and blues.

“These two music series have something for everyone,” said Peoria Director of Arts, Culture and Library Services Marylou Stephens. “We are excited to celebrate local talent and bring free, high-quality, live music to the PCPA!”

Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. performance. Beer and wine as well as light snacks will be available for purchase. The PCPA is located at 10580 N. 83rd Drive.

The August Acoustics lineup includes:

• Aug. 2, Sophia & Connor Rankin - This brother and sister duo are Tucson natives and have a diverse repertoire that spans the musical genres of folk, pop, rock, and Americana.

• Aug. 9, Liz & Pete - Liz’s heartfelt voice with Pete’s haunting harmonies and rich guitar arrangements captivate the mind and tug at the heart.

• Aug 16, Ryanhood - Named ‘Best Group/Duo’ in the International Acoustic Music Awards, acoustic-duo Ryanhood got their first break more than a decade ago as street-performers at Boston’s Quincy Market.

• Aug 23, Cross-Eyed Possum - Fresh off winning the Pickin’ in The Pines band competition in Flagstaff, their set is a unique blend of originality, musical proficiency, explosive vocal performance, and classic bluegrass sounds.

The September Mix lineup includes:

• Sept 6, Sugar Thieves - Moving between blues, country, folk, rock and roll, and elements of jazz, freely they honor the tradition that makes American music so great.

• Sept. 13, Significant Others - This indie rock band met while going to school in Arizona and draws their influence from bands like Mt Joy, Wilco and Oasis.

• Sept. 20, NOLAZ Band - Based in Phoenix, this eight-piece band plays groove and soul music from New Orleans.

• Sept. 27, Fayuca - This Reggae-Rock/Latino group shifts through genres while blending modern-reggae melodies with Latin percussion, tied seamlessly by sultry-rock breakdowns.
