Sun City West residents can learn about personal safety during a free, interactive seminar in Sun City West.
The seminar will cover ways to be protected from crime and violence and will take place 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in the Quail Room at the Sun City West Foundation building, 14465 W. R.H. Johnson Blvd.
William Flower, a retired magistrate and sheriff’s deputy, will host the 90-minute event, which will go over methods for staying safe from criminal activity. Other topics include vehicle protection, sexual assault, active shooters, domestic violence, travel and vacation security, identity theft and more.
“Unfortunately, most people never gain the right knowledge to keep themselves and loved ones safe.” Flower said. “These are potentially life-saving tips that prevent you from becoming a victim and protect you from danger. You can implement many for little or no money, and most don’t require any special skills or abilities.”
Besides protecting the public, the seminar is also intended to help ease the burden on understaffed and overworked police departments. Flower served as a Kern County Sheriff’s Deputy in California for 24 years. He is also a former criminal justice instructor at Gila County Community College.
