Fourth of July weekend DUI patrol underway in Chandler
The Chandler Police Department has begun its holiday weekend DUI Saturation Patrol and reminds drivers not to drive if they are under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs.
The department's traffic section patrol began Friday and continues through July 4, officials said in a release.
“The extra traffic patrols will be seeking out impaired drivers relative to the holiday weekend as well as the grand opening of the Santan Mountain Casino,” the release stated.

The Chandler Police Department has begun its holiday weekend DUI Saturation Patrol and reminds drivers not to drive if they are under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs.
The department's traffic section patrol began Friday and continues through July 4, officials said in a release.
“The extra traffic patrols will be seeking out impaired drivers relative to the holiday weekend as well as the grand opening of the Santan Mountain Casino,” the release stated.
All participating Chandler officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment for excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs, according to the release.
The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety provided funding for the weekend effort.
