Four Scottsdale councilors, mayor accused of open meeting law violation

The majority of the Scottsdale City Council appear to have discussed with each other through private emails a strategy to repeal the city’s sustainability plan at the council’s Jan. 14 meeting, a move that has resulted in a Open Meeting Law complaint.

Scottsdale resident Steven Jackson filed a complaint with the Arizona Attorney General’s office Jan. 22, upon uncovering a chain of emails sent among the councilors, mayor and others on Jan. 13.

The Attorney General’s Office has confirmed it has received the complaint but it has not yet been assigned to an investigator.
