Fountain Hills councilor withdraws from constable race after signature challenges

Fountain Hills Town Councilman Allen Skillicorn has announced he will no longer seek the position of McDowell Mountain Justice Precinct constable.

The announcement came after Skillicorn faced two challenges regarding the number of valid petition signatures he collected to appear on the primary ballot. One challenge was filed by potential opponent and current Constable Dan Diaz, while the other came from Fountain Hills resident Jesse James.

In a press release sent the afternoon of April 7, Skillicorn said he decided to withdraw rather than use limited campaign resources on legal fees. Skillicorn said his opponent “knew he could never win a fair and honest election, so he instead chose to win using lawfare.”
