Umbrellas were part of picturesque sights as residents posed in front of holiday decorations and lights during the annual Surprise Founder’s Day Party commemorations.
After residents inquired online and called the Parks and Recreation Department to check if the weekend event, Dec. 3-4, was still planned at the Surprise Recreation Campus, 15960 N. Bullard Ave., a weather update was posted on Facebook about 1:45 p.m., Dec. 3, telling people to bring umbrellas, mittens/gloves, jackets, hats and their “holiday cheer” as the party was set to go on “rain or shine.”
“Rain or shine, we had the best time! We loved seeing your smiles and excitement as we gathered for this year’s Surprise Founder’s Day Party, celebrating the holiday season in Surprise. Thank you to everyone who came out and braved the cold, wet weather,” said a statement recently posted on the city’s social media page.
