Former Scottsdale councilman refiles campaign finance report complaint

Claims online influencers may have broken the law

Former Scottsdale City Councilman Tom Durham has refiled his campaign finance report claim involving Councilman Barry Graham, Phoenix-based consulting firm Primary Consultants, political consultant Rod Pritchett, a man named Mike Fernando and three online campaign influencers — Yes for Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Edge and Scott Dalevoter.

City Clerk Ben Lane originally rejected the complaint on Sept. 3, saying in a letter to the city council that the complaint “failed to allege facts constituting a violation of campaign finance law and on technical grounds.”

But Durham, a retired lawyer, has responded to Lane’s reasons for rejecting the initial complaint with his refiling of the complaint on Sept. 18.
