Scottsdale City Clerk rejects campaign finance complaint against online influencers

Scottsdale City Clerk Ben Lane has rejected a campaign finance report complaint involving Councilman Barry Graham, Phoenix-based consulting firm Primary Consultants, political consultant Rod Pritchett and three online campaign influencers — Yes for Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Edge and Scott Dalevoter.

The complaint, filed by former City Councilman Tom Durham claims the three influencers have either illegally failed to report expenditures related to putting out content or unlawfully not reported gifts in the form of content.

“I rejected this complaint as it failed to allege facts constituting a violation of campaign finance law and on technical grounds,” Lane wrote to the city council members Sept. 3.
