Former Peoria city council member adds his name to crowded CD8 field

Lesko's decision not to run opened floodgate for long list of candidates, both from inside and outside the district

A former Peoria City Council member has added his name to the long list of candidates running for the seat of Arizona Rep. Debbie Lesko, who announced Oct. 17 she will not seek reelection in 2024.

Her decision has given birth to numerous Republicans, who live inside and outside the district boundaries, to enter the election.

Now Arizona Speaker of the House Ben Toma officially launched his candidacy for the seat Nov. 2 on social media.
