Ford: Be kind, even in discussion of big topics

I can remember when simply having a difference of opinion was not criticized openly as it is today.

My question of Cindy is how is she hurt when someone opts to wear a mask when they are in public?

People wear masks for various reasons, and it shouldn’t be assumed because they are frightened or people who have a different belief than you do.

I also don’t believe that everyone should wear one just to please someone else, but they shouldn’t be belittled for their belief. Doing so speaks more about you than it does about the person you belittled in your letter.

Although at times it feels that there are those who don’t want us to have one, we all have the right to an opinion. I wore a mask long after it was said I didn’t have to do so for COVID because I contracted double pneumonia on an international flight home, was hospitalized for almost a week and all of my physicians said that I needed to do so for a period of time to protect my lungs.

Unfortunately, we appear to be in a pretty unkind place these days. No matter our political beliefs, beliefs about COVID or frankly any issue, maybe we need to pause just long enough to be a bit kinder.
