FLYING HIGHER: Sky Harbor nearly back to pre-pandemic levels

Airport preps for busiest day ever after Super Bowl

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has nearly rebounded to pre-pandemic levels of travelers and is preparing for what should be the airport’s busiest day ever in a couple months — the day after the 2023 Super Bowl.

The past year has included a new terminal opening, Sky Harbor becoming the first airport in the world to offer transportation via Waymo’s autonomous vehicles and before the end of the year should include the opening of an extension to the airport’s Sky Train line.

Sky Harbor was recognized this year as the most sustainable airport in the U.S. by an international group monitoring airport’s carbon footprints.
