Florence Mayor Tara Walter has proclaimed April 6-12 as the Week of the Young Child.
The proclamation, made during the Florence Town Council’s Monday meeting, is part of a partnership with First Things First. This annual celebration, endorsed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, highlights the importance of early childhood programs and services for children's success.
Walter, who also serves on the board of First Things First, joined the Pinal County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday to celebrate its “Week of the Young Child” proclamation, which emphasizes the significance of early childhood development.
First Things First is Arizona’s early childhood agency and provides programs and resources to support strong childhoods.
“By focusing on the first five years, we are making a difference in the lives of young children, their families and our communities,” according to First Things First’s website. “Quality early learning and child care are essential for stronger, healthier families and for the economic future of Arizona.”
