As the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers play ball in the World Series, the mayor from Florence is throwing down the gauntlet.
Florence Mayor Tara Walter just announced a friendly bet with Mary Condon, mayor of Florence, Texas, according to a post on the town's Facebook site.
If the Arizona Diamondbacks win the World Series, Condon has agreed to wear a Diamondbacks hat during her next council meeting following the series.
Of course, if the Texas Rangers take the series, Walter has agreed to don a Texas Rangers hat during her next town council meeting following the series.
Game 1 of the World Series kicked off last night in Arlington, Texas, home of the Texas Rangers. The Rangers won 6-5.
Come Game 3 on Monday, Oct. 30, the Rangers will be in Diamondbacks territory.
The Diamondbacks took the National League title after defeating the Philadelphia Phillies. The Rangers beat interstate rival the Houston Astros for the American League pennant.
The last time the Diamondbacks won a World Series title was in 2001. The Rangers have never won the title.
