Due to the Fourth of July holiday, the Florence town council will be holding its meeting on Tuesday, July 5. Council meetings normally take place on Mondays.
At this meeting, council will vote on an increase in the primary property tax levy. The rate for last year was $1.06 per $100 of a home’s net assessed valuation. The proposed property tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year would increase to $1.0743 per $100 of a home’s net assessed valuation. This is a 2.65% increase in the primary property tax levy.
For example, the proposed tax increase will cause primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to be $107.43. Without the proposed tax increase, the total taxes that would be owed on a $100,000 home would be $104.66.
