The Florence Unified School District is growing its tuition-based Preschool Program. FUSD wants to connect families to the school district from an early age and have a dedicated and intentional approach to nurturing young minds while creating a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Preschool education plays a crucial role in children’s development and prepares them for success in kindergarten and beyond. In fact, according to the Arizona State Standards, a kindergarten student is expected to read at least 50 common, high-frequency words by sight from a research-based word list, as well as read emergent-reader texts with purpose and understanding.
Research consistently shows that children who attend high-quality preschool programs demonstrate better social, emotional and cognitive skills. More importantly, they also exhibit increased school readiness, improved language and communication abilities, and enhanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills which are all needed for a successful transition into kindergarten.
