Florence Police handle traffic incidents

Hit and runs and a DUI feature in the Florence Police crime report for Oct. 16-22.
Traffic accident with injuries reported at 12:54 p.m., Oct. 16 at North Caliente Boulevard and East Barrel Cactus Lane
Officer responded to a single-vehicle accident involving a truck and motorhome. The driver was disoriented and unable to respond to the officer’s questions. The officer observed multiple open alcoholic beverages located in the vehicle. The driver was ultimately transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The officer charged the driver with driving under the influence. Lab results from the Department of Public Safety are pending.
Hit and run reported at 7:34 p.m., Oct. 18 at North Pinal Parkway Avenue
Officers responded to a hit-and-run accident. The first driver and the second driver were hit by an unknow vehicle in a parking lot. The case is pending further investigation.
Traffic accident with injuries reported at 7:12 p.m., Oct. 20 at South Sellers Street and West Canal Road
Officers responded to an off-road single ATV accident. Officers found a man lying on the ground. Due to the dust, the driver was unable to see the canal and drove directly into it. The Florence Fire & Medical Department was on scene and treated the driver’s injuries.
Shoplifting reported at 8:40 p.m., Oct. 20 at South Main Street
Officers responded in reference to a theft call at a Circle K. They observed someone on the back side of the building matching the description of the person who stole the items. The suspect was cited and released for shoplifting.
