Florence library to be renamed after beloved former librarian

The Florence Library soon will bear the name of a much-loved former town librarian.

At its Tuesday, Jan. 3, meeting, the Florence Town Council voted unanimously to name the library portion of the Town of Florence Library and Community Center the Viney Jones Memorial Library.

Jones worked for the town of Florence from 1978 to 1997, mostly as librarian. She ran the library out of what is now the Florence Senior Center at 330 N. Pinal St. She died in 2001.
