The Florence Junior Parada Rodeo marks a milestone this year as it celebrates its 90th anniversary.
The organizer’s aim is to get more local youth involved in the rodeo and bring back the parade’s glory days.
“What we're trying to do is create that excitement as we lead into this year's 90th Junior Parada. We're still not sure whether or not we're going to be able to include some of these locals in the actual rodeo, nevertheless we're getting the word out and we're getting the locals interested and the kids interested,” said Bill Foster Junior Parada organizer with the Historic Florence Foundation. “We are on the [town] committee for the parade to help try to increase that participation in the parade because I feel it's very important that a lot of the contestants that are in in our rodeos need to be a part of that parade as well.”
