Florence fire chief abruptly resigns

In what’s become a familiar predicament, Florence is looking for yet another fire chief.

In October, Larry Contreras was offered and accepted the position of fire chief effective Nov. 9.  Three months later, he turned in his resignation.

His resignation letter dated Feb. 9 gave no reason for his departure, saying only he was resigning effective immediately.
