The Florence Town Council will be voting on annexing 37 acres of unincorporated land in what is known as Attaway Crossing.
The vote will take place after the council hears the second and final reading of the ordinance at Monday’s council meeting.
The land is generally located at the northwest corner of East Hunt Highway and Attaway Road. It is surrounded on three sides by the town. The request for annexation, a staff report stated, was made by the land’s owner, Attaway Crossing 147 LLC out of Queen Creek, and the council authorized the annexation process in February.
If the council agrees to annex the property, the town will have to provide services such as police and fire, sanitation, and upkeep and maintenance of streets and roads. As the area is surrounded by Florence on three sides, some of those services are already nearby, the report stated.
If the ordinance is adopted by the council, the annexation will be effective on Sept. 21.
