Florence council tables proposal for controversial town building

At its Monday, Aug. 1 meeting, the Florence Town Council unanimously voted to table a proposal to build a town facility in Florence’s historic residential district.

Councilmembers John Anderson and Judy Hughes placed the item on the agenda.

While historic district residents of the area came out in opposition to the Florence Utilities Building, also known as the “Water Barn” or “Eco Station,” Anderson, in making his motion to table the item, only made passing mention of the public outcry.
