Florence council approves town hall safety measures

Safety enhancements to the Florence town hall have been approved by the council.

At its Monday, Feb. 6, meeting, the council authorized entering into a cooperative use contract with Mesa-based SJ Anderson Co. to install occupant safety items to the town hall lobby and the stage within the council chambers.

“One of the projects that was identified was the need for a counter services window on the administration side of town hall that would allow customer services while providing better safety for staff,” according to a staff report. “This will allow the door on the administration side to remain locked, also providing additional safety for staff. The glass at the counter services will be bullet resistant. At the same time the glass at the counter services on the finance side will be upgraded to bullet-resistant glass as well.”
