For the past 23 years, the Florence Community Library has celebrated National Library Week through its annual bookmark contest, which draws participation from K-12 students throughout the Florence Unified School District.

A staff report states National Library Week is an observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support.
For the past 23 years, the Florence Community Library has celebrated National Library Week through its annual bookmark contest, which draws participation from K-12 students throughout the Florence Unified School District.
This year, the library plans to host the bookmark contest as an addition to its Summer Reading Program, with plans to return to the schools in 2022.
