Florence will be purchasing  a right of way on Hunt Highway to support a project for improvements at the intersection of Hunt Highway and Attaway Road.

The project would add turn lanes and allow modifications to the traffic signal’s timing. The Florence Town Council voted to make the purchase at it June 5 meeting.

“This right-of-way acquisition is a necessary part of the project and is generally on the north side of Hunt Highway at Attaway Road. The town and its consultant have been working with the property owner acquire the necessary property,” according to a staff report.

Based on current design plans, more than 3 acres of road rights of way are needed from the property owner to complete the project. The purchase cost is not to exceed $433,302.
