First drowning of 2026 in county waterways occurs at Lake Pleasant

A 37-year-old woman drowned on Sunday at Pipeline Cove at Lake Pleasant, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office stated in a release Monday.

The incident is the first drowning of 2026 involving the county’s lakes and river.

Two fisherman, who were in the cover, observed a female submerged under the water about 11:30 a.m. March 1. When deputies arrived on scene, the fisherman directed deputies to the location, where the deputies observed the woman approximately 10-15 feet below the surface.
