Firefighters work to reduce wildland fire risks in North Scottsdale

City provides free wildland safety inspections

The monsoon  begins Wednesday in Arizona, and fire officials have worked to reduce seasonal wildland fire risks in North Scottsdale.

“Scottsdale has more critical wildfire risk due to the urban interface with much of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and other vegetation-rich open space areas,” Scottsdale Fire Chief Tom Shannon said this weekend. 

The fire department has taken a "multi-pronged approach to the mitigation efforts," a city release stated, listing several actions officials have taken and offering advice to  residents, including:
