When Dr. Mara Windsor met Blake Marum, a firefighter with the Phoenix Fire Department, it wasn’t in a boardroom or business seminar, it was in the chaos of the emergency room.

Overwhelmed by a steady stream of trauma cases, she jokingly told Marum to “stop bringing patients” her way.

Weeks later, the two crossed paths at their children’s school, and casual conversation soon led to a business partnership.
