The city of Phoenix heard pitches last month from six companies vying to turn a historic former fire station into a restaurant.
Phoenix Fire Station No. 4, southwest of First and Moreland streets, opened in 1922. Though it hasn’t been used as an active fire station for 40 years, it’s remained owned by the city of Phoenix. It is just south of Margaret T. Hance Park and the Burton Barr Central Library.
This summer, after gathering community input and considering Hance Park’s master plan, the city announced it wanted to lease the former firehouse to a company to turn it into a full-service restaurant.
