Surprise Fire Department hiring 6 to crew

City Council approves 3 captains

The Surprise Fire Department has received approval to add six full-time crew members, including three captains.

The Surprise City Council on Feb. 1 approved spending $127,400 to cover the expense of bringing on the new additions.

City officials said it is an effort to increase efficiencies and reduce staff overtime within the Surprise Fire-Medical Department.
