A fire at a Safeway at Verrado Marketplace damaged the store’s roof, but the interior was spared, and there were no injuries, authorities said.
The Buckeye Fire Department along with about 20 other units from surrounding jurisdictions responded about 8:15 p.m. April 30 and contained the fire to a 10-by-10-foot portion of the roof, according to a Buckeye Fire Department release.
“Fire crews also prevented the fire from spreading to nearby construction materials on the roof, which could have significantly increased the extent of damage,” the release stated.
