Fire damages mobile homes, cuts power, displaces dozens in Tempe

Posted

A fire Monday evening that began in a tree spread to mobile homes near Apache Boulevard and McClintock Drive in Tempe.

The fire also damaged a power pole, cutting electricity  to 12 mobile homes, displacing about 30 people, according to  the Tempe Fire Department.

Crews from Tempe, Mesa and Phoenix responded to the fire shortly before 6 p.m. July 17, according to a release. Upon arrival, firefighters found the blaze had moved to the mobile homes. The power pole also  caught on fire, officials said.

There were no serious injuries, but one person was checked at the scene and declined transportation for further evaluation.

Care7, Red Cross and Tempe Health and Human Services worked Monday night to secure shelter for those affected by the fire, officials said.
