Financial assistance guidelines discussed for Apache Junction funding

$80,000 given last year to five nonprofits

A rubric for determining which Apache Junction nonprofits should receive funding was discussed recently by the city’s Health & Human Services Commission.

The commission reviews requests submitted by health and human services providers for city funding and makes recommendations to council regarding such funding. Five agencies were assisted with the $80,000 available last year. The next deadline for applications is Jan. 31.

Applications will be reviewed and scored in February, and the commission is to interview applicants in March. In April, the commission makes initial funding recommendations and in May presents findings and recommendations at a council work session, City Clerk Jennifer Pena said during the commission’s Jan. 24 meeting.
