Final plat for Ironwood Station approved in 6-1 vote by Apache Junction council

A 96-lot Ironwood Station residential townhouse subdivision is to be constructed at the southeast corner of North Ironwood Drive and West Superstition Boulevard.

The Apache Junction City Council recently voted 6-1 on a consent agenda — which included the final plat for Ironwood Station, acceptance of the meeting agenda for Oct. 5 and the minutes of the Sept. 21 meeting — with Councilor Kelly Gremmel dissenting.

“No, and I would like to explain why. On consent agenda item No. 3, this has to do with the residential townhouse subdivision named Ironwood Station,” she said in voting Oct. 5. “I voted no on this previously and I know that there is a new plat, but it’s very similar but I’m concerned about the amount of traffic that’s going to be in that area and I had really wanted to see a deceleration lane put in, and I understand that has not been added so I’m voting no.”
